All classes take place at Thomas Jefferson Elementary either immediately before or after school. Baroody Camps, Inc., a company that shares our philosophy on enrichment, will be offering a fun & diverse menu of classes for our children! They will be providing us with on-line registration & an On-Site Coordinator who is responsible for assisting Instructors with attendance, dismissal & any problems that may arise during the before or after school program hour.

Who is Baroody Camps?

Baroody Camps was started in 2003 as a basketball summer camp by a young PE teacher, Pete Baroody. After 4 successful summers of camp, Baroody Camps was incorporated and grew to three locations. As the summers passed, Baroody Camps added new programs and recruited some amazing area teachers to run some of the most fun camps around. In 2014, Baroody Camps started to work with local elementary schools during the school year to help them administer their after school enrichment programs. With unparalleled experience in educational leadership, teaching, creating curriculum, facility management, and customer service. Pete has a unique view on how things should be done. "We do our best to bring it all together to serve all of our partners; parents, teachers, school administrators, program providers, and of course our amazing students."

After 17 years of teaching, Pete is putting all of his efforts in to helping Baroody Camps work with providers to create some of the best learning experiences for students in Northern Virginia.

What does Baroody Camps provide?

  • SAFETY. Baroody Camps provides one of our qualified and trained on-site coordinators who manages and oversees the day-to-day operations of the program, supervises the safe arrival and dismissal of students, and supports the teachers of each class throughout their sessions. Additionally, the on-site coordinator is medication administration trained and CPR /First Aid certified.
  • VARIETY. We work with a wide variety of vendors who are experts in their field to deliver a variety of programs that will foster children's development and curiosity in a challenging and structured environment. Our range of programs includes something for everyone, including STEAM, music, sports, engineering, theatre, and much more!
  • CONVENIENCE. Remaining at their school eliminates the need for someone to pick up your child and deliver them to another location, providing you and your child more time and peace of mind.
  • FUN. We provide year-round activities that encourage a love of learning, creativity, curiosity, skill development, character building, and fun!

Snacks and Allergy Procedures

Snacks will be permitted at the start of programs each day. We require that snacks provided are nut-free. Program providers will be given an allergy list of students participating in their class. Snacks will be monitored and eaten only at the start of programs.

If your child has an allergy and/or asthma, serious or not, a Medical Condition/Allergy Form must be completed before the start of programs. *Note: After-School Enrichment Programs do not have access to the health office, however, our On-Site Coordinators are trained to store and administer medication safely.

Standards of Behavior

We want to ensure that all students participating in the enrichment programs enjoy the experience. In order for this to happen, it is expected that all students will conform to regular classroom and school rules and regulations while attending a program. The providers are all experienced TJ teachers or enrichment instructors and will use classroom management techniques to allow misbehaving children to adjust. If a child continues to have difficulties, he or she will be removed from the class and be placed with the On-Site Coordinator who will decide if and when to return the child to class that day. The On-Site Coordinator will also inform the parents about the situation.

If a child is removed from a class a second time, that child will be withdrawn from that class for the remainder of the session. The School will be informed of this decision. No partial refunds will be given in these situations. We look to all parents to support our class providers so that all children can enjoy the enrichment classes.
